ENCOUNTER WITH UNLIMITED FAVOUR
2 SAMUEL 9.3
THE KING SAID; IS THERE NOT STILLSOMEONE OF THE HOUSE OF SAUL TO WHOM I MAY SHOW THE UNFAILING, UNSOUGHT, UNLIMITED MERCY & KINDNESS OF GOD? ZIBA REPLIED, JONATHAN HAS YET A SON, WHO IS LAME IN HIS FEET (AMP)
1. WHAT YOU NEED MOST IS AN ENCOUNTER
“Thou hast granted me LIFE and FAVOUR and thy VISITATION hath PRESERVED
my spirit.” Job 10.12
In many parts of the world today, lives of people are gradually returning to what they used to know. There are expectations of Promotions, Entitlements, New Positions, New Opportunities that have been placed on hold. While the world was on hold and waiting, responsibilities of people were not waiting. Above all, their Future was not waiting. To recover what has been lost during the time of waiting will require more than natural efforts. What you need most is A Visitation and An Encounter. “And David said, Isthere still anyone left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness forJonathan’s sake?”
2 Samuel 9.1
2. IT’S YOUR TURN FOR AN ENCOUNTER
“Thou shall arise and have MERCY upon Zion, for the time to FAVOUR her, yea the
set time is come” Psalm 102.13
An Encounter is A Meeting. It is To Meet With or To Come Upon especially Unexpectedly.
An Encounter is an Unexpected Appointment. Reading through the scriptures, Bible
characters usually did not expect an Encounter when they happened in their lives. In the
way God deals with Men, God often comes to us, in Unexpected Moments and Unexpected
Ways. God allows us to go through life in the way life is without changing a thing, until all
of a sudden, God makes His Presence known to us. It’s your turn for an Encounter!
“And the King said, Where is he? Ziba replied, He is in the house of Machir, son of
Ammiel at LO-DEBAR” 2 Samuel 9.4
3. IT’S YOUR SET TIME FOR THE UNEXPECTED
“SUDDENLY will my righteousness come near, and my salvation will be shining out
like the light, the sea, land will be waiting for meand they will put their hope in my
strong arm. Isaiah 51.5 (BBE)
God shows up and does something in our lives unexpectedly. This Is Divine Encounter.
We must not restrict Encounter with God to A Particular Time and Place. In the Bible, there
are Interruptions that God brings to people’s lives when they were not “in the Temple”
Some Encounters happened in The Temple, But Many Encounters with God came in
Other Places and At Unexpected Moments. God has not limited His Encounters,To A Building
Or To A Calendar. Have you been Marking Time and Stumbling Over Opportunities? God
does not announce ahead of time when He is going to bring An Opportunity. But Suddenly
the Encounter Comes! It’s your set time for The Unexpected.
“Then the King sent and fetched him out of the house of Machir, son of Ammiel in LO-DEBAR“
2 Samuel 9.5
4. IT’S YOUR APPOINTED TIME FOR FAVOUR
“And the Lord gave the people FAVOUR in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they
lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoilt the Egyptians“.Ex.12.36
The Hebrew word RATSON commonly translated FAVOUR also means KINDNESS, MERCY,
GRACE, GOODWILL, ACCEPTANCE, DELIGHT, PLEASURE. Favour invokes unmerited
goodness. It is the kindness shown without regard to the worth or merit of the one who
receives it and in spite of what that person deserves. Favour is a key attribute of God.
If hard work were directly proportional to wealth, a lot of people will be extremely wealthy
today. Favour always come with blessings. Favour is an arbitrary decision by a superior to
delight in and bring one to a position of advantage over others. It’s your appointed time for favour! “David said to him, Fear not, for I will surely show you KINDNESS for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather and you
shall eat at my table always.” 2 Samuel 9.7
5. GET READY FOR UNFAILING FAVOUR OF GOD
“…To whom I may show the UNFAILING….mercy and kindness of God..” 2 Sam.9.3(AMP)
The entire 2 Samuel Chapter 9 is the story of how Mephibosheth encountered the Favour
of God through King David. The verses of 2 Samuel Chapter 9 mentioned earlier in this piece were referring to Mephibosheth. David remembered the promise he had made to his best friend, Jonathan and David was unfailing in his promise. He searched for and found the only surviving member of Jonathan’s family, Mephibosheth. After David found Mephibosheth, he restored him to the palace of the King. There is a dimension of Favour we need, to get us to our divine location. This moving story is an assurance that God is unfailing in his promise of Favour to His people. Favour grants freedom and plenty no matter how long the weeping. Get ready for Unfailing Favour of God.“..but His FAVOUR is for A Lifetime. In His FAVOUR is Life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.Ps.30.5 (AMP)
6. BE A PART OF UNLIMITED FAVOUR OF GOD
“Remember me, O LORD, with the FAVOUR that thou bearest unto thy people; O VISIT me with thy SALVATION . Psalm 106.4
The Favour of God is unlimited. His Favour covers our Spirit, Soul and Body. His unlimited
Favour can be well understood from the Encounter of Mephibosheth. At a very tender age,Mephibosheth started at a distinct disadvantage. He dropped at a Fall and grew up crippled in both feet. He was very much at the mercy of anyone who wanted to harm him. Like Mephibosheth we were all crippled by the fall of Adam and at a distinct disadvantage. Because we were crippled, we could not morally live to the perfect standards of God. Wewere also faced with pain, sickness and death physically as a result of our lame feet.Spiritually, we cannot make ourselves righteous enough to approach a righteous God.
We all have the same basic problem Mephibosheth had. Like Mephibosheth, we were crippled by the Fall of Man. But Suddenly, we were Sought by The King. We were Favoured by the King. TheKing Remembered us. The King brought us out of Lo-debar. The King gave us A New Future and A New Encounter. The King Visited us with his Salvation forever. Be part of The Unlimited Favour of God. “So, Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the King’s table even though he was lame at both feet” 2 Sam. 9.13
GOD BLESS YOU!
