The Power of His Resurrection

He is risen! Hallelujah!

Easter Sunday! What a special day when Christians all over the world celebrate/commemorate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ which He experienced willingly (Jn. 10: 17 – 18) to provide us with abundant life now and for eternity. To raise our Lord from death against the schemes of men and the devil was in itself a marvelous display of power. By rising from the dead to return to eternal power at the right hand of the Father, Jesus fulfilled a vital part of God’s plan of redemption that has paramount importance to the life and future of every human being.

Jesus rose from the dead, bruising the head of the serpent (Gen.3:15). He, by the power of His resurrection, is now and forever declared to be the Son of God with power (Rom. 1:4) – power over death and the grave! An empty tomb is there in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem to prove that Jesus lives!

The power of God displayed in the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ is what has changed the world.  The whole of Christianity hinges on the Cross and resurrection of Jesus on the third day. It is the core of everything we believe, receive and experience in the earth and thereafter in heaven. If there was no resurrection, then we would be of all men the most miserable. And if Christ has not been raised, our faith is worthless (1Cor. 15:19, 17).

Benefits of the death of the Lord Jesus abound (forgiveness, salvation, healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc) but sadly, most Christians stop at the cross and don’t take the full advantage of all that Jesus provided to operate in the fullness of the resurrection power every day.

The power of resurrection of Jesus Christ is an enormous force. No wonder Apostle Paul cried out in Phil. 3:10, that he wanted to, not only know Christ, but also experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead. As you make this your cry today, you will experience the power of His resurrection in Jesus’ Name.

There is enormous power in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ

The power of Christ’s resurrection is the proof of our justification as born again children of God and brings forth eternal life (Rom. 4:25). Justification is the verdict of God that, even though we have sinned terribly, but now beingjoined to Jesus Christ by faith, we are righteous before Him. The very fact of the resurrection shows once and for all that Jesus’ sacrifice is all that is necessary to pay the penalty for our sins… And so it is that the resurrection of Jesus is the proof of a perfect righteousness, not only for Jesus but for all that are found in Him. Without the resurrection we would be hopeless; our eternal life is dependent on it. It is the proof of our justification. And those who know the power of the resurrection come to know and experience their own justification.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the power of a new life. In Eph. 2: 1-6, Paul teaches that we were once dead in our sins, but that God, out of shear grace, has made us alive together with Christ…and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Him. This new life, which consists of a life of wonderful obedience to God and intimate friendship with Him, requires a fundamental and radical transformation in the very depths of our spiritual being. The power to bring about this transformation is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is according to His abundant mercy This power and work of the risen Lord is what Paul referred to in Col. 3:1 that “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God…..” Those who know the power of Jesus’ resurrection know this new life.

Jesus’ resurrection is the power that guarantees our future resurrection. Those who have a new life in Jesus Christ do not lose that life when they die. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the power of this final resurrection into glory. Through His own resurrection Jesus received power and authority to raise us in the day of His return. After Jesus’ resurrection, many bodies of the saints which slept came out of the graves and went out of the holy city and appeared unto many (Mt. 27:53), signifying a dress rehearsal of what will happen at rapture.

In keeping with that, God presents Jesus’ resurrection as a solemn pledge that He will also raise us up through Jesus Christ.   And knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us into His presence (2Cor. 4:14) gives us good hope for the future.

The resurrection of Jesus is the power of life. “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”(Rom 8:11). When you make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, the Holy Spirit would impart into you the same power that raised up Jesus out of hell, the same power that defeated principalities and power. You become ‘made alive’ together with Him. Whatever is going on in your life today (health, business, marriage, ministry, career) – put the resurrection power to work. Because He lives, you will live also – (Jn. 14:19). There’s nothing that can match the yoke-destroying, burden-removing power of the resurrected King. Because He lives, you can face life; you can face tomorrow; you can face death; you can face eternity.

The resurrection power delivers the keys of death and hell to Jesus and His Church. After He rose from the dead, Jesus declared “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Rev. 1:18). Through His death and resurrection, Jesus destroyed him who had the power of death, the devil and released those who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. The power of resurrection gives you authority over the forces of sickness, disease, pandemics, death and hell and those who know it enforce it.

The resurrection power overcomes the devil and his kingdom and gives you dominion and ascendancy. He hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus from where we rule and reign in life(Eph. 1:19 – 20). It was through His death and resurrection that Jesus was given a name above every other name, and this means a power above every power (Phil. 2:5 -11, Col. 2:15). He triumphed over the devil, over all principalities and powers and over the kingdom of darkness.  Knowing this power will make us to exercise our rightful authority over the powers of darkness and we will not be afraid of them as we take territories for the kingdom.

The power of resurrection is the power of transformation and translation. The angels asked the disciples of Jesus “Why seek ye the living among the dead. He is not here, but is risen!” (Lk. 24:5, Mk 16:6; Mt. 28:6). The power that lifted Jesus up and out of the grave has the capacity to change your story and relocate you. You will no longer be found among failures, sinners, backsliders, poor, sick in the Name of Jesus

The power of resurrection opens doors. After His resurrection, Jesus descended into hell, commanded the heads of the gates and everlasting doors to be lifted that the King of Glory might come in (Ps. 24: 7-10). He declared in Rev 3:7 that He has the key of David; He opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. This is the demonstration of supreme power. Those who understand this power exploit it to open ancient doors, doors of opportunities, delays, limitations and perennial challenges. May this be your experience as you celebrate His resurrection and particularly in this month of Open Doors in Jesus’ Name

The resurrection of Jesus Christ has power. The same resurrection power that brought Jesus from death to life is available to you, and if you tap into it, you will see an amazing transformation in your own life, too. As you celebrate Easter, let a new meaning of this day come up in your spirit, stir your faith, and activate resurrection power in your life. We have reason to celebrate every day because He is risen!
