The Greatest Testimony

Over the years, God has given us the opportunity to give testimonies to His glory. Testimonies are meant to tell how God interacts, encourages and works on behalf of His people. God is glorified in our testimonies as testimonies constitute a form of praise and honour to Him. Testimonies may emanate from God's wonders in the area of provision, deliverance, healing, promotion and so on. However, the greatest testimony is the testimony of Salvation. Salvation is the state of being saved or protected from harm or a dire situation, deliverance of the soul from sin and its consequences.

For the three years of His public ministry, Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry and performed a host of other miracles. All that He accomplished in this short time was a set up for God’s ultimate plan for Him to sacrifice the life of His Son so that we might be set free from the bondage of sin. During His few days on earth, Jesus was betrayed, unjustly accused, brutally beaten and sentenced to death on a cross.  However, the greatest tragedy ever known became the launching pad for the greatest testimony ever told.  Jesus paid the ultimate prize for our past and future sins, so that we might live a life that is marked by testimonies as a result of His grace and unconditional love radiating in our lives. God gave us eternal life and this life is in His Son.

God loved us so much that He allows us to have fellowship with Him through His Son (1Corintians 1:9). The fellowship is gained by responding to Jesus’ Lordship and believing in His death and resurrection. The conversion experience forms the basis of your new life in testimonies as your Father will not give the food meant for you to dogs whenever you call on Him as your Abba Father. It should be mentioned however, that He is God and He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy(Romans 9:15).

As a Christian, the story of how God stepped in and changed you through His Son is a direct reflection of the life-changing power of the Gospel. Before you were saved, there was an ‘old you’ who was caught up in sin and did not have a relationship with the Lord. After declaring for Jesus, the change experienced resulted from the goodness and mercy of the Lord. Colossians1:13 says that God transferred us from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of light. We defected from Satan’s evil empire and are now rescued from Satan’s claws. We are part of another team, and are now against Satan as we declare for God (Matthew 6:24). This is indeed the greatest testimony!!

After all said and done, even after enjoying this Father-Child relationship, you may still be separated from your testimonies. Some reasons for this situation could include:

Disobedience— Joshua led a war to Ai. Israel was to take nothing from the city, but was to give all the riches to God as a tribute to Him (Joshua 6:19). However, one man, Achan, kept a single Babylonish dress, 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels in weight. It was a small thing in comparison to the wealth of the city but it was a great thing in the sight of God. This small thing cost them defeat at the small town of Ai. It robbed them of their testimony. What is that situation in which you are yet to obtain your testimony? Are you an Achan? Why not check.

Doubt— The question ‘Can God do it?’ has robbed many of their testimonies. Remember that by grace through faith, we are no longer slaves to sin. Believe God that He can do it, for all power belongs to Him and He is not a liar (1John 5:10-13). If He that is no respecter of persons can do it for the grass of the field, you, who He chose to die for, should be rest assured of the needed solution.

Praying Amiss— We pray amiss when the motive behind the prayer is wrong. Unforgiveness could also result in our praying amiss. The wicked will pray amiss because God hears only the prayer of the righteous (Proverbs15:29). We should also ask ourselves if our request has scriptural backing. Our prayer points should align with the word of God

Persistency-— God may actually be saying “Not yet. Continue to pray”. Persistent prayer develops patience in us. 1Thessalonians 5:17 expects us never to stop praying. Don’t you know the timing of God cannot be evaluated by man (Mark 11:24). Our God is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness (2 Peter3:9).

In conclusion, Christ died to make a difference in our lives. In our Salvation experience, God uses our new life to carry out His plans for us. His plans are always bolder and better than anything we could ever imagine. We may feel that we are ordinary but salvation allows God to cause a change in our lives so as to make the extraordinary possible for us. Still expecting your testimony? Be assured it is on the way.
