When God Doesn’t Make Sense

Have you ever been in a situation where answers to your prayers were delayed, even after praying and waiting on the Lord for so long? Have you been disappointed despite the prophetic declaration and prophecies God sent to you? Have you needed Him so desperately and yet He did not show up for you? There is good news for you. God may not always make sense, but there is sense in what He is doing.

In times of dire needs - urgent answers to prayers, open doors, desperate miracles etc.- when He doesn’t make sense, He is getting ready to bring you a surprise package. Romans 8: 28 says, ‘And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose’. All things comprise the good, the bad and the ugly and those times He doesn’t make sense at all, everything is working out for our good.

Sarah was barren for so many years yet God wasn’t a stranger in her home. God had visited her husband Abraham, given him a major promise and called him His friend yet He didn’t make sense in Sarah’s situation. She remained childless. When God showed up for her in His time, He blessed them with a very special child.

Hannah is also an example of when God did not make sense. She waited on the Lord for a child for so long, she was mocked and scorned but still she kept trusting God for her miracle. God showed up for her and gave her a very special child, Samuel. 1 Samuel 1: 1-28.

Gideon, from the weakest clan in Manasseh and the least in his family became Israel’s deliverer. When God called him, he was threshing wheat and ordinarily it did not make sense for him to lead the Israelites in battle yet, God was with him and He conquered the Midianites Judges 6 – 8.

Our God is full of surprises. He answers us when we least expect and blesses us beyond our expectation. As Christians we sometimes get weary of waiting especially when answers don’t show up but at such times, we need to encourage ourselves in the Lord. He sometimes delays answers to our prayers just because He wants to prove Himself over and again in our lives.

One major thing we can do when God doesn’t make sense is to PRAISE Him. Praise moves God to action. In Acts 16: 24- 26, Paul and Silas were bound with chains and locked up in prison. They raised their voices, not in complaints or lamentation, but in praises to God and He showed up for them. The foundation of the prison shook, the doors were flung open and their chains fell off. They were set free.

What is that challenge or situation you are faced with? What is that mountain that has refused to be moved? When God doesn’t make sense just PRAISE your way through the situation and keep trusting Him, He will show up for you with the best, in His own time in Jesus’ name.
